Sarah Palin...Should Linda Lingle follow her lead?

Linda Lingle has unsuccessfully pressed her points for more than a year now and seems to becoming less and less relevant in Hawaii policymaking. Her furlough was just stopped by a state Circuit Judge. Now solving the budget will probably have to fall to the Legislature coming back into Special Session. Lingle also threatens to veto nearly a third of all the bills passed in the last Legislative Session (many of them are good, well thought out bills), but that doesn't mean much because the Democrats in the Legislature have a supermajority and can override all of her vetos if they want, which I would expect them to do. Furthermore, Lingle cannot run for another term. Her terms are up.

So the question arises, why doesn't Lingle follow the example of Sarah Palin and resign? If anything from the Republican perspective this would give Duke Aiona a chance to make himself better known and define himself seperate from Linda Lingle's legacy before the next election cycle. Having been a close student of civics for a few decades, I think it makes sense for all involved that Linda Lingle resign in the next few months. We'll see what happens...

Oh how I wish she would. Just imagine if we had the $40 million she threw away on the Superferry.

But her political ambitions are grand and she is looking to take over a Senate seat in the next election.

Now THAT is really, really scary!
