What can I do to reduce my chances of developing cancer?

From Bob Livingston of Liberty Alert:

Dear Bob,

What can I do to reduce my chances of developing cancer?

A: The main things you can do are: get Omega-3 fats from krill oil, fish oil or cod liver oil; take up to 5,000 IUs of vitamin D3 daily; eat as much fresh raw vegetables daily as you can (research has shown that if one-half of your diet is raw, the probability of no cancer is very high); maintain ideal body weight; boil, poach or steam your foods (never fry or charbroil); and take iodine daily according to your needs.

Also, cancer is a sugar junky and cancers thrive on sugar. Avoid all sugar of all kinds, especially fructose corn syrup. Almost all commercial foods contain sugar. If we are to avoid sugar, we will have to work at it in America.

Best Wishes,
Bob

Thanks Bob and Brad, that's a good start.

Omega-3's are great and important to get the 3-6 ratio in check. Most foods have 6's and little or no 3's. But, the fish source is not the best way to go and there are plenty of other sources of Omega-3's. Global fish stocks have enough stress on them as is and the ecological effects from farm raising fish is not so hot either, not to mention extracting and refining the oils requires the use of harsh chems. With all of those factors there are very few quality manufacturers of fish oils and it's still not really worth it b/c of the alternatives.

Flax oil, seeds, and powder are super high in Omega-3's relative to Omega-6's. And flax can be used to make linen! Win-win. Hemp seeds, nut seed, protein powder, and oils also have a high 3-to-6 ratio (but not as high as flax) and hemp can also be made into fibers and fabric! Win-win!

Next we have walnuts, which are a good source of omega-3's so if you like to snack on nuts reach for some walnuts. All of which, if grown organically, will have far less of a negative impact than the fish oil.

As far as Vit D, all ya need is some gentle sunshine! (The lighter your skin the less you need) It doesn't really take much at all, esp here in HI, but for those in the winter lands, just walking outdoors regularly will help a good deal! Also, if you are in the winter land skip the shades (or even in HI, it will strengthen your eyes) and get that sparkle back in your eyes, more sunlight more serotonin = better mood! So talk a post lunch walk outside (be sure to bundle up). Switch your light bulbs so full-spectrum bulbs (at least for the winter), those CFL's aren't going to do the trick. At very least install a strong bright full-spectrum light in a room where you spend a lot of time at home or at work to help fight the winter blues.

Fresh raw veggies and fruits. Absolutely! Seasonal and local as first choice ppl. Smoothies (Try putting some greens in your smoothies too! Star slow and build from there.) for breakfast salads for lunch and dinner w/ whatever other wholesome unprocessed foods. Try and get the virgin and cold pressed oils to make your own dressings and sauces. If you do like nuts go for the raw ones! Seaweed is a yummy way to get iodine.

Def, cut back on the suga. If you gotta go sweet check out some local raw honey or dried fruits and keep the vitamins and minerals!

Good for overall health :-)
